The 2012 accounting screw-up that has defined the Nampa School District may soon have a new set of victims: the district's custodial and food service staff.
Eight months after officials in the Nampa School District admitted to horrible math skills, resulting in millions of dollars in red ink and leading to resignations, furloughs, cuts in services and the closing of an elementary school, the district is now looking at outsourcing of its custodial and food services.
This morning's Idaho Press-Tribune reports that the district's Financial Recommendation Committee estimates that they may save nearly $200,000 annually by contracting with outside firms to provide food and cleaning services.
The Nampa School Board will hold two separate meetings on the proposals: Members will consider custodial services Tuesday, April 16, and food services on Tuesday, May 7. Both meetings begin at 7 p.m. and will be held at the Nampa High School Little Theater.
