U.S. Republican House Speaker John Boehner is coming to Idaho Friday, June 21, for a fundraiser. He's appearing in Coeur d'Alene—part of Idaho Republican Rep. Raul Labrador's 1st Congressional District.
But Labrador won't be there.
This morning's Coeur d'Alene Press reports that the private event, which will be held in Idaho's panhandle, is actually a fundraiser for Washington Republican Rep. Cathy McMoris Rodgers.
Rodgers voted for Boehner when he ran for House speaker in January. Labrador was one of 12 GOP House members who refused to vote. Additionally, Labrador stepped away from the so called "Group of 8," a U.S. House bipartisan coalition supporting the currently-debated immigration reform bill, which Boehner supports.
An organizer for the June 21 Coeur d'Alene fundraiser told the Press that he didn't expect Labrador to be at the event and a spokesman for Labrador's office told the Press, "We don't have any comment on the story you're working on."
