Trail Wind Elementary and Les Bois Junior High schools were not in session today, but because approximately forty students were taking part in a pre-school program at Trail Wind, the schools were placed on lockdown for a while Thursday afternoon, after Boise Police received a report of a shot fired off of East Lake Forest Drive.
Parents were allowed to pick up their children from the schools with a police escort.
According to law enforcement, one person reported seeing the activity and another reported hearing what may have been a shot from a gun.
Police said the situation did not appear to pose a threat to public safety, and while most law enforcement activity was wrapped up by mid afternoon, an investigation was ongoing and police said residents were being cooperative.
