9-Year-Old Cyclist Escapes Serious Injury in Early Morning Crash

Posted By on Tue, Oct 8, 2013 at 10:20 AM

A 9-year-old boy was lucky to walk away with what appeared to be minor injuries after he was knocked off his bicycle early this morning by an SUV on Linder Road in Kuna. The boy, who was not wearing a helmet, was taken to a local hospital to be checked out.

Kuna Police said the boy was riding his bike northbound on Linder Road when he darted across a driveway leading to several businesses on the southwest corner of Linder and Deer Flat road. That's when an SUV, turning into the driveway, hit the bike. Police said the SUV was going about 5 mph when it hit the bike, but the impact caused the boy to fall off and hit his head.

The driver was not cited in connection with the crash.

The boy, who was on his way to school when the crash occurred, was given a bicycle helmet by Kuna Police for the next time he rides his bike.
