Free Press: Students Walk Out of Class After Idaho Principal is Discharged

School officials in the north-central Idaho community of Kamiah are remaining tight-lipped, but they've been meeting behind bclosed doors over the recent dismissal of a principal.

The Idaho County Free Press reports that Kamiah High School Principal Veneice Guillory-Lacy was put on administrative leave Sept. 25. Officials would only say Guillory-Lacy was put on leave, citing personnel issues following a meeting by the Kamiah School Board.

But students aren't happy. The Free Press reports that students at KHS made it known that they disagreed with the dismissal, staging a Sept. O27 walk-out in her support. Meanwhile, another show of support came out of a meeting of the Nez Perce Tribe General Council. Guillory-Lacy is a descendant of the Nez Perce Tribe and grew up in nearby Lapwai.
