An Eagle man is behind bars charged with vehicular manslaughter following an early morning accident which killed a 21-year-old woman.
Idaho State Police said the crash occurred near the intersection of State and Glenwood streets just before 3 a.m. Police said 25-year-old Andrew Cassell was driving a 2004 Kia Optima when his vehicle crashed into a power pole, killing his 21-year-old passenger, Aldina Ekic. She was pronounced dead on the scene.
State Police said alcohol was a contributing factor and that the victim was not wearing her seatbelt at the time of the crash.
State Street was closed to all traffic for a few hours before sunrise and the investigation is continuing.
Boise Police also report that a Boise man has been charged with aggravated DUI following a three car collision at the intersection of West Emerald and North Roosevelt streets Oct. 31.
Witnesses told police the suspect was traveling westbound on West Emerald when his car rear-ended a vehicle that had begun entering the intersection on a green light. The second vehicle then struck a third vehicle.
Officers said they noticed the strong odor of alcohol on the suspect.
50-year-old Bradley Kenyon was booked into the Ada County Jail on a felony count of aggravated driving under the influence.
