Boise Police: DUI Suspect Leaves the Scene of Accident, Goes Home and Sleeps With His Shotgun

A Boise man is behind bars, charged with DUI, leaving the scene of an accident and assault on an officer.

Boise Police say they received a call regarding a vehicle crash on the 2300 block of South Pacific Street early this morning. Officers located a pickup truck that had stalled on a sidewalk after crashing into a traffic signal pole and a large rock. The driver was gone.

Police said they later found the driver at a nearby home. The suspect was found in a bedroom laying close to a shotgun, but when officers tried removing the weapon, the man grabbed the gun and a struggle took place. Officers managed to wrestle the weapon away from the suspect. Police said the suspect also failed several field sobriety tests and blew a .14 blood alcohol level. Police also recovered marijuana and drug paraphernalia in the suspect's room.

22-year-old Caleb Brubaker of Boise was booked into the Ada County Jail and charged with felony assault or battery on an officer, DUI, leaving the scene of a property damage accident and possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
