An Eastern Idaho man is behind bars, charged with hosting parties for minors where police say he handed out methadone pills. Pocatello police say at least one juvenile who attended one of the parties was rushed to the Portneuf Medical Center.
This morning's Idaho State Journal reports that 27-year-old Alexander Casquiera of Gate City has been charged with two felonies: injury to a child and delivery of a controlled substance. Detectives indicate that Casquiera had allegedly been hosting parties for high school-aged students at his home for the past eight months. Police said Casquiera regularly handed out prescription methadone pills at the parties.
Methadone—a synthetic opioid—is in the same controlled substance criminal category as heroine and morphine.
