Bryan Smith Backs Out of April 15 Debate With Mike Simpson

Saying that he didn't like the moderator, Bryan Smith has backed out of a debate with U.S. House Rep. Mike Simpson, which had been slated for Tuesday, April 15, in Idaho Falls.

A spokeswoman for Smith criticized Dr. David Adler, director of the Andrus Center for Public Policy, as the designated moderator for the April 15 face-off, alleging that Adler had publicly praised Simpson while being critical of Smith.

"To us, it's not fair," said Smith's campaign manager Carrie Brown. "It's not fair and balanced."

Meanwhile, Simpson says he's still planning to attend the April 15 event at the Idaho Falls City Club.

Two more debates are also scheduled—on April 25 in Twin Falls and on May 11 in Boise—before the May 20 GOP primary.
