Police Looking For Driver of Hit and Run That Left Cyclist With Two Broken Bones In His Neck

Boise Police need the public's help finding the driver of a vehicle that hit and injured a cyclist early today and then drove off.

The incident occurred on West Hays Street near 10th Street at about 7:20 a.m. this morning, when a cyclist said a car passed him as both were traveling eastbound on Hays. But that's when the car suddenly turned right on 10th Street, directly in front of the cyclist. The cyclist ended up hitting the passenger side of the vehicle, head first. The driver reportedly continued driving southbound on 10th Street without stopping.

The cyclist, an adult male, was wearing a helmet and eventually got back on his bicycle and continued to work. But a short time later, he said he began to feel ill and when he sought medical attention, he was told that there were two broken bones in his neck caused by the collision. That's when he called Boise Police.

Police said the driver was behind the wheel of an older-model green Saturn.

Anyone with information is asked to called Crime Stoppers at 343-COPS. A citizen can choose to remain anonymous. A reward of up to $1,000 is offered for information leading to the arrest of criminal suspects.
