Two Memorial Day Idaho Accidents Send Young Children to Hospitals

The long Memorial Day weekend ended with some bad accidents, while local law enforcement reminded us that the 100 days between Memorial Day and Labor Day are the 100 deadliest days on Idaho roads.

In Star, an 8-year-old boy was rushed to a local hospital after being struck by a pickup Monday evening on West State Street near North Main Street. The driver of the pickup told police that the boy came out from between two parked cars before his vehicle struck the child. Police said witnesses gave similar statements.

And in North Idaho, police say a man entered Interstate 90 going the wrong way, triggering a two-car crash on a westbound off-ramp in Post Falls. The wrong way driver was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, driving without privileges, injury to a child and possession of a concealed firearm while under the influence.

The drivers of both vehicles and a 6-year-old child were rushed to a local hospital.
