North Idaho Democrats have a problem; they have some fake Republicans among their legion of precinct captains.
This morning's Coeur d'Alene Press reports that the Kootenai County Democratic Central Committee has fingered six non-Democrats who recently were elected as precinct captains.
But you can't simply kick out the new Dem captains due to the fact that they were duly elected.
"But we can appoint vice-chairs who can vote in their stead," Paula Nells, executive committee chair of the Kootenai County Democratic Central Committee told the Press. "And that's what we'll do in as many cases as we can."
In fact, all six of the winners were identified as either Republicans or Independents. And Nells told the Press that "she spoke with one of the fakes," who admitted he was encouraged to run by Republicans.
"We just went through the list going, 'OK, we don't know who these people are," said Nells, who added the half-dozen will be "politely asked to resign."
