Police Blotter: DUIs, Drug Possession and Using a Car as a Weapon

A Boise man is behind bars, charged with a felony count of assault with a deadly weapons—his car.

Boise Police say they were called to the area of West Canal Street and West Victory Road June 7. That's where witnesses told police that a man had tried to run over three people with his vehicle and had since left. Officers found that the victims and suspect were known to each other and were apparently involved in an ongoing dispute. During the investigation, the suspect was also found to be in possession of a methamphetamine.

Also on June 7, Boise Police responded to a citizen's call of a possible DUI near South Orchard and Malad Street. The citizen said the driver had nearly rear ended another vehicle and then swerved between lanes. Officers located the suspect at a traffic stop and could smell the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from the driver. The driver failed several field sobriety tests. Additionally, officers found a bottle of prescription drugs that belonged to someone else. And the driver had a small child in the vehicle at the time of the arrest. The child was released to safe custody. A check of records discovered that the driver had two previous DUI convictions.

Boise Police said they were called to an east Boise home on June 8, responding to a report of drug activity. A search turned up marijuana, cocaine, prescription pills with blacked-out labels, a digital scale and other evidence of drug trafficking.
