Idaho Lawmaker Missed General Election Votes

Caldwell Republican House Rep. Brandon Hixon admits that he has missed a few general election votes, but we're presuming he at least cast ballots for himself in 2008 and 2010 when he was elected to the Idaho House.

According to a June 16 statement released by Democrat Travis Manning, who will challenge Hixon on this November's ballot, Hixon "has only voted in two of the last five General elections."

"If voting is so important to Mr. Hixon, why didn't he vote in the U.S. Senate races of 2004 and 2010," read Manning's statement.

Hixon told BW that prior to 2007, he wasn't as politically invested as he is now.

"I really started getting involved in 2007 and 2008. I'm fully engaged in the voting process but I got started a little late," Hixon said.
