Boise Police had to shut down a portion of Gowen Road overnight while they investigated the city's latest car vs. bicycle accident.
During the late afternoon hours of June 17, emergency responders were called to the scene of East Gowen Road and South Federal Way. That's where they found a cyclist in the road. Witnesses said the cyclist, a man in his 30s, was in the intersection going north on Federal Way while the vehicle, a pick-up truck, was driving east on Gowen. Police said it appeared the driver had the green light entering the intersection.
The cyclist was not wearing a helmet at the time. He was conscious and alert before being taken to a nearby hospital. But a short time later, after being examined, hospital officials said there was reason to believe that the injuries were potentially life-threatening.
No citations have been issued but the investigation continues.
