A Boise man is behind bars, charged with a felony, after Boise Police said his dog severely injured a child.

The arrest stems from a March 27 incident when police were called to a parking lot on the 1300 block of South Broadway Avenue. That's where emergency responders found a 6-year-old boy had suffered severe facial injuries from a pit bull-type dog. At the time of the attack, the boy and two other children, ages 9 and 11, were being cared for by Anderson, an acquaintance of the parent of the children.

During their investigation, police said they found evidence that the suspect had knowledge that his dog was aggressive and had behaved in a violent manner in the past. Detectives with the Boise Police Special Victims Unit discovered other cases of injury to a child involving the suspect.

Fearing the children might be in continued danger, detectives said they placed the children into protective custody of the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare.

Christopher Anderson, 24, of Boise was charged with five felony counts of injury to a child and resisting and obstructing officers.
