A Nampa church deacon, convicted of lewd conduct with a minor in connection with an incident at the Nampa Seventh-day Adventist Church, has been sentenced to 15 years behind bars, five years fixed.
Prosecutors launched an investigation following a July 2013 incident in which a girl under the age of 16 told authorities that the suspect had inappropriately touched her in a storage room at the church, during a potluck.
Police said the suspect admitted to hugging and kissing the girl but denied doing anything inappropriate. Police said that the suspect added that "Satan was in the storage room with him and the girl."
And on Tuesday, 57-year-old Alexander Garcia was sentenced to prison by 3rd District Judge Bradley S. Ford. This morning's Idaho Press-Tribune reports that Garcia must also register as a sex offender and have no contact with the victim, her family or any minor females.
