This morning's Coeur d'Alene Press reports that there's some confusion over an upcoming auction of state-owned lots on Priest Lake in North Idaho.
In May, the Idaho Department of Lands announced that it would auction off a number of cabin sites along Priest Lake. That comes in the wake of an auction of 21 cabin sites last April on Payette Lake, which netted the state $6 million.
Then on July 29, the IDOL announced that 62 state lease lots at Priest Lake would be on the auction block. But the Press reports that the IDOL was "silent on how it intends to proceed with the auction of lots held by people who have disagreed with or challenged the department's divestment process." The Press reports that the auctions have prompted a "flurry of litigation from Priest Lake lessees who contend the appraisal processes used by the state are deeply flawed."
The Thursday, Aug. 28, auction is set for 1 p.m. at the Coeur d'Alene Resort.
