Sections of the Middle Fork Boise River Road remained closed Thursday.

Officials in the Idaho City Ranger District confirmed that the road remained closed from the junction of Slide Gulch (Forest Road 213) and the Middle Fork Boise River Road running upstream to the Neinmeyer Recreation Site.

Officials said nearly 600 feet of the road had been washed away by mid-week storms, and another 500 feet were still underwater. The lake extends about a quarter-mile upstream of a drainage called Big Five Creek. Also, downstream of the Big Five Creek, there are two more log jams that have been slowing and changing the river flow and corridor.

The Middle Fork Boise River Road running east toward Atlanta is still open but there have been numerous, smaller slides reported that were being cleaned Thursday.

There are no estimates of when the road might be repaired. Officials said it could take days, possibly weeks, to repair.
