Three Bodies Discovered Near Rural Washington Cornfield

Law enforcement officers insist that members of the the small South-Central Washington state community of Finley need not be concerned for their safety, but they're still looking for at least one person who may be responsible for the killing of three people found dead near a rural cornfield.

"There's at least one or more people out there who have committed a murder," Benton County Sheriff's Lt. Chuck Jones told the Tri-City Herald. "They're actively being pursued by law enforcement. They're obviously a threat to law enforcement as we try to apprehend them, but the public in general should not be concerned."

The Tri-City Herald reports that the bodies were found Saturday morning by a farmworker, who first came upon the bodies of a man and woman. When police arrived on the scene a short time later, a third body, another woman, was found.

The Benton County property is owned by Easterday Farms, a family farm that has grown onions and potatoes since 1958.

Jones declined to say whether investigators know who the suspects are, or whether the case is gang- or drug-related.
