Idaho's powerful business lobby, the Idaho Association of Commerce and Industry, has fired a significant shot across its political bow in its support of incumbent GOP Gov. C.L. "Butch" Otter by deriding Otter's Democratic challenger A.J. Balukoff.
In a new ad dubbed "Liberal AJ Balukoff," pushed out on YouTube
on Tuesday, IACI quickly links Balukoff with President Barack Obama, but fails to mention that Balukoff actually voted for GOP candidate Mitt Romney in the 2012 Presidential Election.
IACI also pointed to higher school levies in the Boise School District, where Balukoff serves as school board president. But the lobbyists fail to mention that the levies were voter approved.
And IACI tags Balukoff with being anti-gun for his "lack of care for Second Amendment rights." But Balukoff insists just because he opposed the guns-on-campus law, allowing concealed weapons at Idaho's public colleges and universities, doesn't mean that he didn't support the Second Amendment.
The gubernatorial election is less than 11 weeks away.
