Disc Golf 'Pro Shop' Proposed for Ann Morrison Park

Anyone who doesn't think that disc golf hasn't taken off—quite literally—in Boise parks need look no further than a proposal to open a disc golf pro shop in Ann Morrison Park.

A company calling itself, what else, Boise Disc Golf has designs to build a new facility in the park to rent and sell sports equipment, as well as snacks and drinks.

"Boise Disc Golf will help educate the public on disc golf etiquette, ensure proper course usage and keep the Department (of Parks and Recreation) informed of any observed safety issues or maintenance needs," reads an agreement with the city of Boise.

The company is looking for a three-year license deal with the city and will operate the pro shop from April 1 through Oct. 31 each year. Discs (both new and used) will be for sale or rent. But other equipment will also be sold or rented, including hacky sacks, kites, bocce balls and tennis rackets.

Meanwhile, the Boise City Parks and Recreation Commission is also being asked to approve the usage of the Discovery Center's parking lot for paid parking during Boise State football games.

The nonprofit Discovery Center is asking for permission to raise revenues by charging $20 to park in the museum's lot for the following home football games: Saturday, Sept. 6; Saturday, Sept. 20; Friday, Oct. 17; Saturday, Oct. 24; Saturday, Nov. 15 and Saturday, Nov. 29. They're also looking to charge for parking for the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl, which will be played on Saturday, Dec. 20.
