An Eastern Idaho man was shot and killed while four bondsmen from the Treasure Valley attempted to serve a warrant on the man March 15.

The Bonneville County Sheriff's Office says 58-year-old Philip Clay of Rigby was shot by one of the bondsmen in an apartment parking lot in the Bonneville County community of Ammon. Clay died a short time later at the Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.

Clay was wanted on an outstanding warrant out of Ada County for possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver.

During a February arrest, Boise Police said they discovered Clay had been in possession of seven baggies with a white crystal substance which tested positive for amphetamine. Bay had been booked in the Ada County Jail but had bonded out.
