Burn Ban Already?

Posted By on Fri, May 11, 2007 at 4:00 AM

Thinking of burning that pile of yard waste this weekend? Think again.

Thanks to the inversion pattern over Boise, the Idaho Department of Environmental Quality issued a burn ban Friday morning. Until further notice, no open burning or wood burning are allowed within the city.

Burn bans go into affect for open burning when the air quality index reaches 60, and for wood burning when it reaches 74. As of Friday morning, the AQI had reached 90. Mmm ... nothing like chewing your air before you breath it.

For more information, check out the DEQ’s Web site. To report illegal burning, call the hotline at 208-384-3828.
