Sen. Craig's Statement

Sen. Larry Craig's office has released this statement today:

“At the time of this incident, I complained to the police that they were misconstruing my actions. I was not involved in any inappropriate conduct.

“I should have had the advice of counsel in resolving this matter. In hindsight, I should not have pled guilty. I was trying to handle this matter myself quickly and expeditiously.”

“I was trying to handle this matter myself quickly and expeditiously”. Craig just doesn’t learn. It was his trying to handle the “matter” himself that got him into this predicament in the first place. He’s going to have to think long and hard about how to get out of this one. In short, he’s blown his political career. I speculate that this is the reason Sec. Of the Interior Kempthorn has been in Idaho for a working vacation for a month without staff from Interior here as well. This is unheard of in Interior history. Republican’s have been in a huddle since Craig’s arrest trying to determine what to do next. They obviously hoped to keep the arrest in the closet as well. My guess, Kempthorn will step down from Interior to run for Craig’s Senate seat.

Could somebody file a FOIA to get his arrest photo? I'd like to use his mug shot for my Christmas card.

Now I understand why there have been so many Idaho GOPers that have been lining up to get at Craig's seat if it should become vacant. I hear it's pretty popular.

It's about time he came out anyways. Local gay's in Boise have know about his sexuality for a long time. There just was no evidence, or at least that anyone could dig up.
