They're still piling on former Statesman editor Carolyn Washburn, who yesterday moderated the Democratic presidential debate in Des Moines Iowa.
Here in Boise, Statesman editorial page editor Kevin Richert said, roughly, "Um, that's my former boss" and got pilloried for it in his own comments page.
In Washington, they're rolling their eyes. Dana Milbank of the Washington Postdid so with such force we feared he might pull something. He called Washburn, now the editor of the Des Moines Register"earnest and schoolmarmish" and noted that "groans emanated from the media room down the hall" when, instead of asking about substantive issues like Iraq and immigration, she asked about New Year's resolutions.
And yes, she got compared to Nurse Ratched from One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest by the Weekly Standard.
Even BW's inbox has picked up. A former Statesman staffer, who said they were laid off by Washburn via telephone while on vacation, gleefully passed along a number of Youtube clips.
