Remember Your Audience

Idaho Superintendent of Public Education Tom Luna is known as a commanding speaker, but he might have picked the wrong crowd for one comment Thursday morning.

When talking about opposition to his plan for revamping the way teachers are compensated, he blamed misinformation "you might have read in the paper."

While this might elicit a round of knowing head nods in a room of politicians, that's not true when you're addressing a room full of the state's leading media.

Yes, Luna made the comment while presenting his plan before a group gathered by the Idaho Associated Press. While he brushed past the comment, it was enough to coax a few snickers and smirks out of the assembled reporters and editors.
