McDavid, Higgins, Williams Announce Campaigns

Saundra McDavid is taking another shot at politics.

The former candidate for mayor of Eagle has registered to run for the District 14 Senate seat currently held by Republican Stan Bastian.

McDavid lost a run-off election earlier this year to Phil Bandy after a hotly contested race.

Garden City Council Member Elfreda Higgins has also come out with higher political goals. Higgins, who was elected to the Garden City Council in 2005, will seek the District 16 House seat B, now held by Les Bock.

Bock is running for the district's Senate seat following the departure of Democratic Sen. David Langhorst, who is running for the Ada County Commission.

Laurynda "Ryndy" Williams is also throwing her name in the race for the Senate. The Democrat is challenging Meridian Republican and Gov. Otter apointee Sen. Shirley McKague for the District 20 seat.

Williams' last political run was in 2006 when she challenged former State Sen. Gerry Sweet for the same seat.
