Labrador Stays Put

Posted By on Thu, Mar 13, 2008 at 4:00 AM

Rep. Raul Labrador is staying in place.

The Eagle Republican was rumored to be considering a run for the District 14 Senate seat held by fellow Eagle Republican Stan Bastian.

The rumors were intensified after he told BW "I'm definitely running for something." It looks like he'll be running as an incumbent though.

Many political insiders believe that former Eagle Mayor Nancy Merrill will challenge Labrador for his House seat, although she has yet to file.

Bastian is already facing a challenge from Saundra McDavid, who lost a runoff election for mayor of Eagle. McDavid filed as a Republican.

Boise Democrat Rep. Branden Durst has also filed to run for re-election, although he will face a formidable challenge from former Republican legislator Julie Ellsworth and Gail Hartnett.

Check out who else has already announce their candidacies.
