Ron Paul is On The Ballot

Posted on Tue, Mar 18, 2008 at 4:00 AM

John McCain may have clinched the Republican nomination for president, but Idaho Secretary of State Ben Ysursa is still willing to give Ron Paul a chance.

Ysursa announced the May 27 presidential primary today, and in so doing said Paul was on the ballot.

Which will make Ron Paul fans very, very happy.

"He hasn't backed out yet," said Tim Hurst, deputy Secretary of State.

In making his judgement call about Idaho's ballot, Ysursa said Idaho law has two ways for presidential candidates to get on our ballot. One way is to have your candidacy "generally advocated or recognized in the national news media." Can't say that Paul isn't still talked about, but somebody find us the "generally advocated" part.

The other way to get on the Idaho ballot for president is to file a declaration of candidacy and pay a $1,000 fee. They've got until April 7 to do that.

Excellent. I find the idea of only one name on a ballot to be deeply disturbing, and particularly so if that one name results from the decision of nebulous entities given to the belief that they can justly determine who is legitimate and who is not....

Ron Paul will get my vote. The dark & gloomy headlines about the economy mirror the warnings Dr. Paul has been repeating for decades, and most emphatically for the past couple years. Should we trust our economy- the very regulation and printing of our US Dollar- to secretive, power-motivated private bankers who are not required to answer to congress or any other government oversite? We have been doing just that. And we are starting to feel the dire consequences.

Congratulations to Ben for making the right decision. Ron is still legally a Republican candidate for office. It seems a little unusual for the Secretary of State to be able to decide who is a candidate. After having the MSM special interest groups, from the very beginning, tell the American public that Ron wasn't a serious candidate and wasn't going to win, it's good to see someone do the right thing.
