Honoring Chu

Posted By on Thu, May 28, 2009 at 4:07 PM

Cyclists will honor one of their own on Friday, May 29 when they lead the funeral procession of Boise resident Jim Chu.

Chu died from injuries he received after being struck from behind by a van while he was riding his bike on Orchard Street on Tuesday, May 19.

All bicyclists who wish to honor Chu are invited by the family to help lead the procession from the Cathedral of the Rockies in downtown Boise to the Dry Creek Cemetery.

Funeral services will begin at 1 p.m., and volunteers from the Boise Bicycle Project will be on hand with racks to hold up to 50 bikes. The volunteers will also watch the bikes through the service.

The honor guard of bicyclists will begin assembling on 11th Street at 1:45 p.m. Anyone who participates in the ride is invited to attend the church service, but it is not required.

The graveside ceremony will be a private, family affair, so cyclists will leave the group when the procession reaches Hill Road.
