River Slingshot on a Board

Posted By on Thu, Jun 25, 2009 at 2:59 PM

Here’s something in the “somebody was bound to do it eventually” category. Mix surfing, bungee boarding, kayaking and a slingshot together and you get bungee surfing, which happens to be the newest sport being taught by Cascade Raft and Kayak.

Basically, bungee surfing involves being slung upriver by a bungee cord at speeds of up to 30 mph while riding a surfboard. According to a press release sent out by the company, beginners ride on their knees or stomachs, while advanced riders stand up and can even advance to doing tricks while being hurled over the water.

Even Surf Company will be demonstrating what it’s supposed to look like from 1-4 p.m. on Friday, June 26 and Saturday, June 27 at Parnell Beach on the Payette River (2.5 miles from Horseshoe Bend).
For more info, or to set up your own lessons, call Cascade Raft and Kayak at 208-793-2221.
