Ned Evett Shines for CWI

Posted by Nathaniel Hoffman on Fri, Jul 3, 2009 at 9:07 AM

Fretless guitar wonder boy Ned Evett cut his hair for this new promo spot for the College of Western Idaho, the Boise valley's new community college. Evett's song "Shine Like a Diamond," from his new album, iStole, is featured in the ad, along withe Evett playing in the middle of a lake (Payette Lake is my guess) and driving a little MG on mountain roads.

"The setting—big skies, dusty roads, and that moment in springtime when the ground has thawed but there’s still snow on the mountains—blends familiarity with a feeling of new possibilities," reads the press release for the spot, sent by Boise PR agency Red Sky.

The video, produced by Kevin Hutchinson at Summit Digital Films, shows a late 20s Idaho-style metrosexual man sipping coffee, looking in the Statesman job ads (who does that?) and staring off into space. The protagonisto then finds himself in the sunny foyer of CWI—"Lowest Tuition in the Valley"—at a bistro table with all of his new friends.

“As a rallying cry, ‘Shine Like a Diamond’ reflects the possibilities that the College of Western Idaho represents — a chance for people to reinvent themselves, take control of their futures and succeed,” college spokesman Shirl Boyce said.

Evett will play a show at CWI on Aug, 29. That's in Nampa, folks. Win tix starting July 15 on the college's Facebook page.

I'm lost. iStole is not new, it came out years ago. This CWI promo appears to be a remix of the Shine Like A Diamond On Me video mixed with some new clips (which is fine, I guess). Now, Ned may have coincidentally cut his hair for this new CWI promo, but that footage of him is certainly not new. So this article is all kinds of F'd. Or I'm confused. Or drunk. LMK!
