Cupcakes make people happy. Probably more so than pastries, gummy candies and cookies combined. Whether it’s their pint-sized portability, the perfect dollop of frosting or the challenge of taking that first bite without smearing it all over your nose, cupcakes are instant mood elevators.
With a goal of amassing 2,000 locally made cupcakes, the upcoming Cupcake Collective competition is about to ratchet up Boise’s happy-o-meter a few sizable notches. From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 15, the Linen Building will host a competition for local cupcake creators and enthusiasts. Based on a similar event put on in San Francisco, the Cupcake Collective competition will award $100 in cold hard cash to the winners and $50 to the runners-up in four categories: “Best Tasting,” “Best Visual,” “Youth” and “Honorary Mention.”
At only $5 to enter your creations into the running, there is still time to come up with a killer recipe before the registration deadline, Thursday, August 13th at noon. And fret not non-bakers, you can still show up to the event with a five spot and a sweet tooth and walk away in an icing coma.
