BW sales rep Jill Weigel interrupted a noon editorial meeting today with a very special announcement: The Tamale Lady was outside.

I excused myself to investigate.

In San Francisco, there was a lady who prowled the streets selling $1 tamales to late-night revelers. The tamale is better than a Red Bull (full disclosure: I've never had a Red Bull) for rejuvenation. I'd heard of this Boise Tamale Lady, but had yet to meet her.

She is called Sara and she is in the downtown area every other Thursday. Call 249-6608 to place your order or to arrange special deliveries.

She has pork, beef, chicken and bean tamales and they are very good. Sold in packs of 6 or 12, for a buck a tamale, they are also a very good deal. I ate four, sold one to a colleague and saved one in the BW fridge.

Later in the afternoon, my wife delivered a piece of day-old mocha cake from Big City, also a buck. If only Sara had cold 50-cent Tecates and lime I would have had a near-perfect food day.
