Last week I received an advanced copy of Martin Sexton's new CD, Sugarcoating. The disc is due to drop on Tuesday, April 6.
A few listens to the artist's ninth album yielded a fresh batch of soulful musings from the gifted 43-year-old songwriter/troubadour. Among his fans the man is known for his ability to connect with his audience in concert in a way that is known to cause goosebumps as well as grins and boogie-feet. Sexton produces his music through his independent recording company, Kitchen Table Records.
Sexton will play at Boise's Knitting Factory Concert Houseon Tuesday, May 18 at 8 p.m. .
Here is a home video of Marty strumming the new ditty, "Boom Sh-Boom." Recorded before Sugarcoating was officially titled, the song is a light-hearted melody about how he and his wife became a couple and the secret that keeps them close after 10 years of marriage.
