Need Something to Do Friday?

If the promotional posters for the Bicycle Block Party are any indication, 8th street is going to be Boise’s most psychedelic and potentially terrifying street in Boise this evening. The posters, created by production artist and designer Cale Cathey, depict beer-drinking lima-bean monsters and electrically-charged Sasquatch creatures pedaling away on their favorite two-wheeled vehicles. Need I say more?

Boise Bicycle Project has reserved the entire 8th street area between Main and Bannock for Boise Bike Week’s annual night of cycling madness between 4 and 10 tonight. Events range from a scavenger hunt to a FrankenBike contest and auction. Although I’m not entirely sure what a FrankenBike is, I can't see how it could be a bad thing.

Show up to the event on your bike and get free valet parking and a Boise Bicycle Week t-shirt. Throw in beer provided by Bitter Creek, local eats and live music, and what you got is something sure to blow your parents’ Jello mold and meatloaf-filled block parties out of the water. Local-favorites Finn Riggins and Garden City Limits are schedule to perform, as well as the School of Rock Boise Rock School.

Alley cat racers will rip through the streets at 7 p.m., but daredevils heed caution: helmets are required. There's no excuse to not take part in this night of bicycling madness. Borrow a bike, buy a bike, heck even steal a bike. Just don't miss the Bicycle Block Party.

What idiot would even jest about stealing a bike? Obvioulsy one that has never had their's stolen and felt the anger and loss that comes with losing your mode of transportation. For some people bikes are not just toys. Great event lousy article.

Steal a bike? Not cool, BW. Rookie writer perhaps?

Thanks for the comments, you're right on. Bad call on our part. Bike theft is not cool.
