When I moved here from Portland, my friends thought I was batsh#$. "Living in the middle of the boonies like that, you'll never see another live band again," they all insinuated.

Shows what they know. There's three music festivals in Boise just this weekend. In Portland, there's two for the whole year: MFNW and PDX Pop Now, which are both pretty much the same: snore-core to the m-a-xxx.

But the Boisiousie, we get the options.

You wanna go mainstream? Hit up the Boise Music Festival with about 40 local bands followed by headliners Macy Gray, Bret Michaels and The Backstreet Boys.

You wanna support burgeoning local scenes? Hit up The Venue, for the Ticket Out of Town battle of the bands, a joint festival between Boise and Missoula where about a bazillion bands are competing for a touring slots in the other city.

Or you wanna support the truly out of control spirit of rock 'n' roll? The kind that makes girls scream at airports and singers choke on their own vomit? Well, then you my friend, want to go to Ziesta, a two-day rock 'n' roll party with music, barbecues, floating down the river and general raditude at The Neurolux and The Boise Train Depot.

So suck it, Stumptown. If this is just one weekend here in The Bois, you got a lot of catching up to do.
