Last night I went for a late evening hike on the trails above the Old Idaho Penitentiary. My intention was simply to enjoy the sunset, but I was pleased to receive an unanticipated serenade from Jackson Browne, who was playing an outdoor concert at the Idaho Botanical Garden. Although I could barely see the stage, the acoustics in the foothills were pretty remarkable—I had no difficulty singing along with "Running On Empty."
Interestingly, several dozen people were scattered all over the south-facing slopes below Tablerock, enjoying the concert from their elevated location. The most experienced poachers had coolers, chairs and tents, but plenty of folks just sat on rocks and dirt.
Anyone for Chris Isaak next Wednesday, August 11?
