Need Something to do Monday?

Posted by Josh Gross on Mon, Sep 6, 2010 at 11:43 AM

Today's game between Boise State and Virginia Tech marks the official start of football season. And while for many Boisians that likely brings up thoughts of tailgating, festively painting your chest and drunkenly howling like a baboon in a show of genuine "team spirit," for many others it's brings up painful memories of high school thugs who dished out wedgies with impunity, of witnessing overt homophobia from men who pat each other on the bum and shower together and of the threat of Sunday evenings with the family coming to blows if whatever team is being supported doesn't make the crucial play in the final seconds of the fourth quarter.

So today, when all the superfans are out in force, if you're of the latter category, why not take the opportunity to cluster together around a screen in the same manner, but watching something you can identify with. Perhaps a charming film about an awkward kid that also gets picked on by the jocks?

Well, fellow oddballs, you're in luck. Cause tonight, The Flicks is hosting a special screening of Napoleon Dynamite, the 2004 film that launched Jon Heder's acting career and redefined the term "lovable loser." The show starts at 8:30 p.m. and costs $8.50.

Could the BW be more pathetic? Typical socialist/communists who are parasites on those that actually make the country work.

Napoleon is an awesome comedy, though. I agree with that. I just don't agree with the one-sided, angry, bitter, thoughtless commentary in the BW. It's a shame they can't be "fair and balanced". This is funny too,,,,if you want to post here on the BW website, this is the advice BW offers if you don't want your comment deleted: Boise Weekly reserves the right to remove your comments in whole or in part. To ensure this doesn't happen to you, don't be libelous, slanderous, threatening, defamatory, hateful or abusive. What makes that so funny is you can find some of the most hateful commentary anywhere in the pages of BW. That's more funny than Napoleon Dynamite!!
