Entries are now being accepted for the ninth annual Boise Weekly Bad Cartoon Contest. Up for grabs are fame and glory—or at least the opportunity to publish your work every week for the next year in Boise Weekly. It's an "honor" that's been held by Steve Klamm and his cartoon "Dude Howdy" for the last year.
Of course, what we mean when we say "bad" is up for you to figure out. Make us roll our eyes with bad puns, hold our sides with quirky or ironic illustrations or weep with joy at off-taste humor. Cartoons can be a single-panel or a strip. Everything goes, but it's up to our group of highly trained (read: breathing) judges to select an ultimate winner.
It's free to enter and top picks will be published in the Dec. 1 edition of Boise Weekly, with the winning comic showing up all the way through 2011 (yes, the winner does get paid, but don't expect too much.)
While everyone—professional and aspiring—is welcome to enter, here are a few rules to follow:
• All entries must include name, address and phone number on the back.
• If you want your entry returned, you must include a self-addressed, stamped envelope.
• Here's the big one: All entries are due in our hot little hands at BWHQ no later than 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 17.
Now go forth and draw your twisted hearts out.
