The Hottest Tickets in Town

Posted By on Thu, Nov 25, 2010 at 10:36 AM

Ironic, because they're also perhaps the coldest. And we're talking Reno—not Boise.

Boiseans have purchased thousands of them, are braving the ice-covered roads and spending Thanksgiving at a casino in downtown Reno rather than with their loved ones this holiday. What could possibly entice one to take a break from hours of booze-soaked discourse on the Obama administration with the in-laws? The possibilities are endless really, but in this particular instance, it happens to be one of the most-anticipated college football games of the season.

Mackey Stadium on the Nevada campus is likely to look like a microcosim of Bronco Stadium come Friday, when the Wolfpack take on the Broncos, although the Wolfpack has been selling out home games these day,s too. This game means a lot to Boise because the Broncos haven't been pitted against a rakned team since the beginning of the season, and a win over Nevada would lend some validity to their Top Five ranking. A win for Nevada would be an unprecedented victory for the school and an it's-about-damn-time-that-happened moment for their fans—including those wholive in Boise. So even though the temperature is supposed to hover somewhere around 30 degrees at gametime, and the roads into town might be treacherous, tickets to this game are the hottest thing around. Even Craigslist (where tickets are going for up to $250 each) says so.
