The Boise Jazz Society is throwing the party. On Sunday, Jan. 23, join tenor saxophonists Phil Garonzik, Brent Jensen, Dean Jennings, Sandon Mayhew, and Marcus Wolfe along with The New Trio Plus' Scott Ruesser, Chuck Smith and Rod Wray as they honor a jazz great with a show they're calling Tenor Madness. You'll hear classic Rollins tunes throughout the evening, which will end with "a traditional finale in the jazz world: the tenor battle."
The event, which starts at 7 p.m., fittingly takes place in the elegant Esther Simplot Performing Arts Academy and tickets for non-members are $25 for adults and $12.50 for students. For BJS members, tickets are $20 for one, $35 for two and only $40 for four. Join the BJS club now and receive $10 off the Gene Harris Jazz Festival Legacy Concert on Saturday, April 9, 2011.
