Robert Franz Raps to Red Riding in the Hood

Posted By on Fri, Jan 14, 2011 at 4:43 PM

Boise Philharmonic Music Director Robert Franz channels his inner Eminem prior to Saturday’s performance of The Lion King and Peter and the Wolf, with his own rap version of Little Red Riding Hood. The age-old story of the little girl taking treats to her ailing grandmother, only to be antagonized by a pernicious wolf, will get an updated remix this weekend. While many musical observers may not see the natural affinity between a classically trained conductor and his burgeoning hip-hop alter ego, this performance highlights another side of the maestro.

Saturday, Jan. 15, 2 p.m., $15 for students, $25 for adults, $100 for family of six. Northwest Nazarene University, 623 S. University Blvd., Nampa, 208-467-8011, nnu.edu.
