Though Salt Tears Coffeehouse and Noshery has been slinging housemade mozzarella sammys and bacon-wrapped jalapeno shrimp bites since its Jan. 17 opening, the restaurant will celebrate its official, invitation-only grand opening today, March 25.
A ribbon cutting ceremony with Mayor Dave Bieter will take place at 4 p.m. and refreshments will be served until 10 p.m. with live music from the Frim Fram Fellas echoing through the open, warehouse-y space. Though Salt Tears is still in the process of securing a liquor license, the staff will be serving wine and beer tonight.
Salt Tears Coffeehouse and Noshery is located inside the Green Chutes artists' co-op at 4714 W. State St.
Green Chutes also has a full day of grand opening events planned for tomorrow, Saturday, March 26. Festivities begin at 10 a.m and include a "live radio broadcast, drawings for gift certificates, performances by local modern dance group, children's art projects and live music starting at 7 p.m."
