Sometimes, silence really is golden. Such is the case with the Civil War-era film The General. Widely considered to be Buster Keaton’s finest, the silent movie is also known for its scenery, stunt work and one of the greatest chase sequences of all time. Plus the musical score that goes with it.

If you have never seen this classic, now’s your chance. The oldie-but-goodie is being shown today at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. at the Egyptian Theatre downtown. Acclaimed theater organist Clark Wilson, know nationally for his recordings and concerts, will accompany the film live.

The proceeds from today’s screenings will benefit the restoration and reconstruction of parts of Julia Davis Park. Tickets are available from members of the Capital City Kiwanis or at the Egyptian box office.
