If most of your knowledge about Greek culture comes from Mamma Mia, My Big Fat Greek Wedding and Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, it’s time to get off the couch and get down to Boise’s 30th Annual Greek Food Festival.

The fest runs Friday, June 3, and Saturday, June 4, from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the Saints Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church, located in a residential neighborhood at 27th and Bannock streets.

In addition to satisfying your feta-ish for traditional Greek dishes like kebabs and spanikopita, the Greek Food Festival will also dish out some unsung gyros of Greek cuisine, like souvlaki (marinated pork skewers), fasolia yahni (green beans in tomato sauce) and pastitsio (lasagna with beef and bechemel sauce).

Or if sweet treats are more your beat, you can snag desserts like galatobouriko (Greek custard baked in phyllo dough) or melomakarona (spice cookies in honey) in the Pastry House behind the church.

There will also be a beer and wine garden and traditional Greek music and dancing. Free traditional dance lessons from Nikki Totorica will be offered throughout the weekend.
