Public Broadcasting has never rocked as hard as it will tonight. Eric Clapton, ZZ Top, Jeff Beck, Sheryl Crow and more will grace the stage during the Eric Clapton Crossroads Guitar Festival 3.
The third installment of this epic assortment of rockers was recorded live, June 2010, at Chicago’s Toyota Park and will air tonight at 8:30 on Idaho Public Television as part of Great Performances on PBS.
The sold-out concert brought more than 27,000 fans to an 11-hour celebration. All proceeds from the show benefited The Crossroads Centre in Antigua, West Indies, Clapton’s education facility for people suffering from chemical dependency.
Bill Murray is the show's MC and performers include Sonny Landreth, Gary Clark Jr., Keb’ Mo’ and Buddy Guy bringing the blues with ZZ Top, Jeff Beck, the John Mayer Trio, Doyle Bramhall II, the Derek Trucks & Susan Tedeschi Band, Warren Haynes and Steve Winwood ushering in the rock.
The first two Crossroads Guitar Festivals, held in 2004 and 2007, both aired on Great Performances, and DVDs of the celebrations went 10-times platinum and six-times platinum, respectively.
