Need Something To Do Saturday?

The sound of squealing tires, the gleam of a fresh coat of mint-green paint, the curve of the fender well on a '68 'Vette ... If these things bring back memories of a simpler time or make you wish you didn't have to remember vicariously through your baby-boomer compadres, you are in luck this weekend. The Ninth Annual Northwest Motorfest hits town with cars, cruises and contests for classic-car enthusiasts to check out.

In addition to the cars on display, the weekend is jam-packed with a variety of vehicular events, including the Globe of Death, a remote-control car world-record ramp-jump attempt, burnout contests, funny car fire-offs and more at Expo Idaho. Admission price is $7—or FREE for those ages 6 and younger. Doors open at 9 a.m. today.

If you only want to check out the cars without the rest of the hoopla, participants will cruise through downtown Boise this evening between 7 and 9 o'clock. Stake out a spot between Jefferson and Idaho and Fourth and 11th streets for prime viewing. Visit rpmprod.com for a complete schedule.
