Need Something To Do Friday?

Posted By on Fri, Jul 15, 2011 at 9:00 AM

The first Thursday of each month has its arms firmly wrapped around the arts scene in downtown Boise, but there's a new game in town for those who need a fix more than every 30 days or so.

The Art Source Gallery presents Art in the Making, a new series slated to run the third Friday of the month. That's today.

Gallery hours will be extended from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m., during which time guests are welcome to pop in and stroll through the gallery, listen to live music, enjoy a glass of wine or beer and watch participating artists create original artwork right then and there.

Using a technique called exquisite corpse, made popular by surrealist artists in the early part of the 20th century, Art Source Gallery artists will take turns working on each other's artwork to create collaborative pieces. After two hours, the artwork will be completed and the audience can place silent bids on their favorites.

Proceeds from the sale of the art will benefit Dunia Marketplace.
